COMMUNITY HOST

Hi, I'm Esmeralda!
I am originally from Northern Virginia and long rooted in Washington, DC, but the road has been calling my soul.
My sacred commitment to myself is to live more fully in alignment with my guiding values - nature, adventure, expansion, and love. Following my flow brought me to Nomad Farm in April 2025, and the experience was life-changing in the best way. The sense of community, emotional intelligence and intentional living were profound, and the land nestled me like a baby.
I was honored to return in a new role - as Community Host - for 6 months at Nomad Farm's base in Brazil, holding space for others to receive the same medicine that was so nurturing to me.
Full circle, coming back to Colombia to continue cultivating connection, creativity, and regeneration!
โ
My time these days is spent focusing on Sweetsop Designs, my passion project focused on supporting cognitive agility and preserving ancestral wisdom through holistic well-being.
I’m beyond excited to walk this journey together - sharing stories, sweat, and sunrise moments, following nature’s rhythms under the sky. Let’s grow, create and play - see you at the farm!

EKAWA HOSTS
Hi, we're Elle & Sergio!
We’re the co-founders of Ekawa — a bamboo village and living lab in the Colombian rainforest. Our backgrounds are in architecture, research, and design.
Before starting Ekawa, we both spent years working across studios, universities, and projects in the UK and beyond, exploring how the spaces we build shape how we live. Ekawa is where we’ve brought that work into practice.
Here, we focus on regenerating bamboo ecosystems, building with locally sourced materials, and developing a way of living that is closely connected to the land. Most of the structures you’ll see have been designed and built on-site, and the process is ongoing.
โ
We live here with a small community of families, and our days are a mix of land work, construction, hosting, and shared moments around meals, the river, and the space itself.
โ
During the immersion, we’re actively involved — supporting bamboo projects, sharing our knowledge, and helping shape the experience as it unfolds.
Ekawa is a bamboo village and living lab located in the rainforest near San Carlos, Colombia.
โ
The project is centered on regenerating native bamboo ecosystems. A few decades ago, this land held over 50 hectares of bamboo — today only a portion remains. Ekawa is actively restoring these groves through planting, propagation, and long-term stewardship.โ Bamboo is used throughout the space — from construction to crafts. Buildings are made with locally sourced materials, and ongoing work includes planting, harvesting, and building with bamboo.
โ
The setup is simple and practical. Water comes from springs on the land, waste is composted and reused, and part of the food is grown on-site using agroforestry and organic practices.โ A small community of families lives on the land, co-creating what they call the Bamboo Village. Daily life includes shared meals, working on the land, and maintaining the space together.
โ
We chose Ekawa because regeneration is embedded in how the place is designed and operated — from the land to the materials to the way people live together. It offers a setting to explore regenerative living in a practical and embodied way.
