THE LOCATION
An eco-spiritual village and permaculture farm in the Kogi’s “Heart of the World.”
Named for the mountain’s ancient spirit of abundance, knowledge, and caregiving, Teiku is an eco-spiritual village founded in 2019 in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Here, permaculture and daily life move in symbiosis with the land and with each other, guided by the traditions of their Indigenous neighbors.
We chose Teiku because regeneration is part of everyday life: it sits beside Tayrona National Park, surrounded by rivers, waterfalls, and nearby beaches that naturally draw you outdoors. The community maintains respectful, invitation-based relationships with Kogi, Arhuaco, and Wiwa families, supports a local kindergarten in Trompito, and lives simply through natural-material homes, spring water, and a thriving jungle food forest.
They grow cacao, avocado, papaya, and yucca while sharing meals, projects, and daily rhythms with a small group of residents and neighboring families. Teiku isn’t just a location — it’s a living example of land, culture, and community in practice, which is why it feels aligned with Nomad Farm.

Is this a job, workaway or volunteer opportunity?
No. This is not a workaway, volunteer program, or labor trade. This is a paid stay at an ecovillage. The land-based activities you may take part in are part of the learning journey, not payment for your stay. People who join us already already work online on their own jobs.
How do I get there from the airport?
We can either help you setup a private transfer from Santa Marta or you can make your way here by public transportation (super easy!). Coming from the airport, you'll need to take 2 buses, and from Santa Marta city, only 1. The ride is approximately 1h. The bus will drop you off on the main road, from there you'll walk (or take a moto taxi) for about 7min to reach Teiku. You will receive specific instructions upon booking confirmation.
Can I work remotely during my stay?
Yes. You will have access to a dedicated coworking space, desk, chairs, plugs and internet to continue working remotely during your stay.
What is the Wi-Fi and electricity setup like?
Wi-Fi at Teiku is reliable and supports remote work and video calls. In the case of an electricity problem, the location is equipped with a generator and able to restore internet for the whole duration of the outage so you can continue to work normally.
What is the food like? Are dietary needs supported?
Meals are fresh, nutritious, locally sourced and farm-to-table and mostly vegetarian. Vegan, gluten-free, lactose free and similar needs can be accommodated with advance notice.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?
Deposits / payments are - 100% refundable up to 30 days before check-in or 24h after booking. - 50% refundable or 100% reusable up to 15 days before your check-in date date.
Can I come alone?
Yes. Most people come alone. You'll be meeting plenty of people there: community residents, visitors, and other guests!
What is there in the surroundings of the location?
Teiku is located in the village of Trompito, in the Tayrona region of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta on Colombia’s Caribbean coast. From the community you can walk toward the entrance of Tayrona National Natural Park, with jungle trails, rivers, and natural swimming spots along the way. Within about an hour are the beach towns of Palomino and Buritaca, and in the mountains the village of Minca, known for waterfalls and coffee farms. The closest city is Santa Marta, about an hour away, where you’ll find ATMs, larger supermarkets, clinics, and transport connections. The area also serves as the starting region for treks toward Ciudad Perdida. Overall, it’s a rural jungle setting with easy access to beaches, mountains, and basic services nearby.
